Yates's began as a ‘Yates Grist Mill’ is 1863, in 1876, the family installed a cider press evolving the mill into the town's most popular attraction.

In Michigan, there are 87 cider producers as of 2020. Yates is one of the listed cider producers producing 300 gallons of fresh cider per hour. Yates offers a variety of goods for its customers including fresh cider and donuts, assorted butters, salad dressing, baked goods, jams, and so much more. Yates includes fun for the whole family as well with a trail about ¾ mile long running along the Clinton River, pony rides, and farm animals ready to be fed by the thousands of daily visitors.

Zharia Woodards, Sterling Heights resident explains why she loves coming to Yates's year after year. “My friends and I have been coming her since our high school days,” she said. “The atmosphere of Yates is like no other, as soon as you step out of the car, the smell of fresh donuts is a sensation in my nose that I can't even begin to describe. My friends and I always have a wonderful time at Yate’s, the donuts are amazing, and the Fall vibes set the perfect scene,” she added.
