Blake's Sunflower Festival 2021
September marks starts the start of the fall festivities in Michigan. During Labor Day weekend, Blake’s Cider Mill in Armada, MI held their first sunflower festival. Blake’s Sunflower festival was held September 4-6, tickets were only $7 for adults and kids 10 and under were free. The event was packed with games, food, and family fun.
Blake’s Cider Mill celebrated being in business for 75 years this summer. The Sunflower Festival 2021 was the first festival of its kind held at the property. The festival lasts three days with games, activities, cider, donuts, and most importantly, sunflowers. There were roughly 8,000 people who attended the festival on Saturday.
Sunflower fields have been known to be a popular event for families, photoshoots, and beautiful sights. Sunflowers in Michigan bloom late July through mid-August creating beautiful views for visitors to see.
During the festival, Blake’s offered a U-Pick option for visitors to drive up to the fields themselves to view the flowers themselves. Visitors had the option to pick sunflowers and get an event mug for $20. Blake’s offered trolley rides to and from the field for visitors who chose to wait to get the full experience.
Stephanie Mann, a Sterling Heights native, bought tickets to the festival to enjoy a weekend full of fun with her family. “When I first saw the flyer, I simply couldn’t resist the urge to see these beautiful sights myself,” said Mann. “The wait to get to the field is kind of long, but that’s expected with the hundreds of people here today. I wish it was a little more organized, but the sunflowers are absolutely beautiful and make for awesome pictures.”
The sunflower festival was a popular attraction during the weekend to bring joy to the thousands of visitors who traveled to see the beautiful sights. Although the weather is changing, and the leaves will shortly begin to fall, there are so many exciting events to come as the Fall season comes.
